Expedition to the South of Malaysia: Day 3

Day 3: Muar – Pontian Kecil (126.6km)

Learn from yesterdays mistakes, I strategic my journey today. Woke up at 5:30am and started to roll out from Muar town at 6:00am. I tried to paddled as far as I could before sunrise. I got off to a beautiful start this morning, the 56km to my 1st destination,  Batu Pahat, was a pleasant ride, the terrain was beautifully flat via route 5. But of cause, when t something gain, there is some lost – I don’t get to see the scenery along my ride, just rode in the dark.

My destination for today – Pontian Kecil.

20160317_062936Along the way, you will pass by many small town like this. This is the first small town, Parit Jawa. It was about 6:20am and the town was still sleeping. (Weird.. I thought people who live in small town usually wake up early? )

20160317_065446About 6:30am, The sun is showing his true colour. It is going to be a hot day today.

Across this bridge, is Batu Pahat Town. (Hell! Bridge again!)

Batu Pahat river. CRAP!!! Why must I always have to cross a river to enter into another town???

20160317_091145 Nothing much to see at Batu Pahat, the only attraction is this – Chinese Chamber of Commerce. Built 1931.

After Batu Pahat, is this small town, Rengit. Just one main road and some small residence area behind this main road. No places of attraction for tourist, no good food. Nothing to talk about this town.

20160317_115215PONTIAN!!!  FINALLY! My destination. And for this time, I DON’T have to cross a river to enter into a big town of Johor.

Pontian. ( I don’t know what it mean in Malay but in Chinese, it literally means “stupid pearl.” Haha..) Another big town of Johor. Formerly a fishing village but now has developed into a modern town. Pontian is famous for it’s variety of sea food. Price ranged from cheap to expensive, depends on what you order. The town is build along the coastal area, so most of the restaurant have the view of Straights of Malacca. 20km from this town is another famous fishing village, Kukup. And The famous Southernmost Point Of Asia, Tanjung Piai National Park , is just about 26km away.

The town is built along the sea line. An evening walk at the beach or sea side is the locals used to do. Further up from here you will find many sea food restaurant.

The room was too small for my little pony to park in, so my poor pony has to spend a night at the reception area. Sigh….

My destination for Day 4? Wait and you shall see………..
