Pedalling Pulau Langkawi(2/2)

14th July 2019

Fishing boat often been seen when ride along coastal line in Langkawi.

Langkawi not only sea, sun and sand, there are also mountains and a 500 million years rock mountains (Some said 450 million years, some said 500 and also 550 million years, I don’t know which is right so I chose the in between). And at the second highest peak of the rainforest stood a world famous suspended bridge, Sky Bridge. To see the bridge, the “steepest cable car ride of the world” will transport you up to the top. Each person will cost at least RM50.00 (with MY ID) for the entrance fee and cable car ticket. In return, you will see the unique view of the surrounding area of Langkawi at the look out point of the bridge, and if the weather is clear, you may even see Thailand border.

We proceed to Black Sand Beach after the Sky Bridge, the entrance to Black Sand Beach is actually stalls that selling food and souvenirs, hence if you are looking for a beach, you may missed it. The scene of the beach not to my expectation though but the coconut juice was good, this is a good place to take a break.

To perfect Langkawi round island ride, a last place must visit, the icon of Langkawi at Kuah Town, Dataran Lang. After this, another night stayed and tomorrow, we will say good bye to Langkawi and back to Kuala Lumpur.

The ferry leaving Langkawi at 2:30pm, we had breakfast, packed our bikes, hit on the road at 12:00pm. It is only 10km from our place to ferry port so we thought even a snail-ride will still have sufficient time. But over an hour ride still no signs of the port, finally we realised we got lost after checked with Google maps. The new route showed another 10km through hilly route, checked our time, we have just 45minutes to make it there, and we have to check in 30 minutes earlier, if we missed this ferry, we will have to stay another night cause there is only 1 trip a day. Gosh…. The panic button was pressed, with full human-horse-power, we pedaled like mad dogs and worse, the climbs was steep and long.

We finally made it with only half of our lives remained. This is the fun of bike touring, you’ll never know what is going to happen.

To the port, the climb seemed no ending…
YES! We finally made it, with just half of our lives remained…

Time to say good bye to this beautiful island, Langkawi…
