Training for RHB Shimano Highway Ride @ LEKAS 2016

Lekas “Hell-way”

9th April 2016

A route test ride with some of BRC members (Buddies Ride Club) and friend this morning, also our fitness test and preparation for the upcoming event on the 30th April 2016 – THE RHB Shimano Highway Ride@LEKAS 2016. Total distance only 78km but, its hilly with an undulating terrain is the challenge. It was a though ride; with scorching sun, the heatwave and the never ending climbs. Especially the long steep up hill climb of 4km from Mantin exit to Temiang/Seremban exit. But the reward was blissful after the steep climb. For 2.3km we were like riding in the wind with the speed of 46kph ( For my touring bike ). Again, something gain and something lose. We were almost fainting from fading our energy level on our ride back.

Don’t ask me total number of hills, because the mathematic department of my left hemisphere was closed for reserving remaining energy to help the legs to continue the pedal works. All cells went for holiday, hence, counting of number of hills was not in record.

The last 6km was truly hell ride. Despite of legs cramped, captain insisted to complete the remaining mileage. We were at abh 8-9 kph on flat road under scorching hot sun and intense heat easily around 35°C – 38°C. Nevertheless , WE MADE IT!!! We were surprised to met Vincent at the finish point. This faithful friend was there alone waited for 2 hours for our return.

Thanks folks for the ride. It was great pleasured to ride with you guys. Vincent, the wind chaser. Consultant was steady and his stamina never end. Captain pushed till her “last blood” and endured to complete the ride. Pony never gave up, she tried her best (whatever her best is..), and endured till the end. These guys are marvelous! Bravo!

We were fresh and confident before the ride.

Rolling on the highway.

We almost fainting at about 800m away from this factory. The stinky smell of the production filled the road. HELL! 800m before and after, about 1.6km smelly road.We have to breath like the Kung Fu Panda – Slow inhale… GOSH!! My lung almost explode after practicing the “Chi of The Kung Fu Panda” for about 1.6km ride. HELL!

A small break after 20km rolling. Pony needs to refill her carbo and increase her sugar level before the steep climb.

HOLY HELL!! ( How could hell be holy? Don’t know…) From here, we started rolling from highway to “hell-way”.

This is the diagram of the “hell -way” climbed. See the 2 devil’s horn? WHOA!!!

Pony’s carbo infilled couldn’t help much. She tried her best. This is her best.

2016-04-09 09.29.28

Need another break just 4km from the devil’s climb. HELL!!! ( Vincent was ahead of us hence no picture of him.)

2016-04-09 12.59.22

Captain experienced both legs cramp due to hard pushed.

This is me. You cannot see me cause I wasn’t in the picture, I was fainted.

We took a long rest under Beranang bridge for captain to recover. It was only our last 6km to our finish point.

Finally we did it. Our faithful friend, Vincent waited 2 hours for our returned. You did well, brother! High five!

    1. Hi Jean!
I’m totally flattered to receive your comments on my amateur blog 🙂 all the way from Canada, which is the other end of the world!
Oh yes, I will be posting the foods of Malaysia soon when I can get the hang of the site. You can bet on it that Asian food are aromatic and exotic sometimes 😀
I would hope to read more of your posts too! Keep it up and we should share our experiences 🙂

      1. Hi Jean,
Thanks for the pointer. Would appreciate if you can point to me how can I add the “Comment” box to appear in the listing page?
Apparently, the “Comment” box only appear in the individual posts, not in the listing page.

  1. By the way, I read your Malayasian touring ride. Interesting and funny. Of course any Asia based cycling blog has to feature food somewhere during the journey. Preferably several times. 😀

I just finished cycling to farmers’ market today. Only 28 km. or so. I wore walking shorts and but found too late it was 5 degrees C but sunny. Thankfully long fingered gloves… warmed up with Turkish borek and coffee inside market.
