GOPENG TO LENGKAP – 90KM

20170626_070543

3rd day of the ride, gosh…wonder how to survive today’s ride with the wound on my butt. Yet, today is gonna be a long ride.

A few historical sites we will visit today. Again, continue from route 1, came to a T-junction, turned in to route A8, this is an old highway and now a quiet road, good for cycling. A short ride for about 10km, we reached to Kellie’s Castle located at Batu Gajah. An unfinished, ruined mansion built by a Scottish planter, William Kellie Smith, in the 20th century. Okay, I am lazy to tell a long story here, so Google if you want to know more. Haha!

Then we turned in to route A15, another short ride, there lies an abandoned huge tin dredge ship. It’s a last tin dredge ship in Malaysia, The Tanjung Tualang Dredge No5, or TT5. The history can goes down to 1940. Again…Don’t let me bored you with history, go check with my secretary, Miss Google to know more. Kam xia (Thank you in Hokkien dialect).

But it was closed due to holiday, hence we could only snapped some pictures from a distance.

The highlight for today was the giant shrimp at Tanjung Tualang. This small town has nothing to interest tourist except the giant shrimps. It was packed with people and even caused a traffic jam in the town, all because of  THE – GIANT – SHRIMP! I guess the shrimp is gonna be extinct in just few years.

The Kellie’s Castle. We were there too early and it was not open yet, but the kind staff allowed us to went in for some picture shooting.

The dredge No.5, was closed for holiday, we could only snapped photos from a far.  (Photos credit to Jane Yeoh)
